Professional Statement (Part 1 of 3)

Why I Want to Become a Teacher

At an interview for any organization, it is a common question used to evaluate any would-be employee. Why do you want to do this particular job? The interviewer is not looking for a simple answer. The question is an attempt to see how much depth the person has. The purpose, as I see it, is how well he or she knows himself or herself. And ultimately, the interviewer wants to know what this person is bringing to the table. It is perhaps a key question to give connected to first impressions. As they say, “First impressions are always important.” With that said, I hope to present a clear portrait of myself to the interviewer as much as possible. I am a product of the private school system. My parents believed that the best kind of education could only be achieved by private schools. The slow deterioration of the public school system has proven to my parents that they made the right choice. Unfortunately, this is something that not all parents can do. They may have little to no choice where they can send their children. They can only hope that the teachers will do their job and the schools will foster an education-friendly environment for the children. This sounds like a desperate situation with very little light at the end of the tunnel. I want to change that environment.
